By 'adopting' the shape of each city as a reductionist background for urban light rail maps, the designers have achieved a wonderfully clear structure which greatly facilitates user orientation. Furthemore the designs are intrinsically esthetic and pleasing to the eye. What these maps achieve is remarkable, representing an ideal simplification of a highly complex.
